Rare "Square Watermelon" from Zentsuji, Kagawa Prefecture is a famous luxurious watermelon. They are first developed 50 years ago in the idea of convenient storange in the refrigerator and to differentiate it from other watermelon production areas, and has recently become popular for displays due to its unique appearance. In order to grow it into square shape, it is formed by fitting it in a formwork. As it is easily affected by the weather, hence there are daily checks twice a day in the morning and evening, and limited by quantity for the prefect square. Only 80% of the batch grow into a beautiful squarish shape
Kagawa Zentsuji Square Watermelon tasted a little like a cucumber and a squash. Watery and buttery with a very small sweetness, probably in the pink parts.
